Very few can match the enjoyment that Shapoor Mistry exudes each time a horse bred by him passes through the winning post in a big race. Shapoor is a keen racegoer and makes it a point to be present when his wards run given the constraints imposed on his time by the demands of his business operations. The only time one can see Shapoor unwind himself is when he excitedly leads in his winners. At most other times, he looks shy, withdrawn and not wanting to be in the limelight. He has made a conscious effort to stay away from the glare of publicity and guarded his privacy. After being gifted the Manjri Stud Farm as a birthday present by his father, he has constantly strived to improve the quality of the produce from his Stud Farm by raising the bar. The stud farm has been making a big impact on racing in India as there is an attempt to upgrade the stock with the purchase of good quality mares from abroad and selecting stallions to suit Indian racing. Major Impact and Senure, the current stallions at his stud farm, have been firing quality winners year after year. Since he loves to see his wards to race in Western India, he is selective in selling his horses. He is a breeder who loves to own substantial number of horses and race them in his own colours.

The stud farm has had its fair share of success in big races in India. While Littleover (Bolder Than Bold) won the Indian Derby in the last decade, in recent years Diabolical (Major Impact) has kept the stud farm flag flying by becoming the dual Derby winner and his bag of wins including Indian Derby within a week of claiming the Golconda Derby at Hyderabad. Secret Memory and Gobelin provided back to back success in the Pune Derby. Oasis Star (Senure) proved to be sensational by the ease with which she won the Sprinters Cup last year at Hyderabad.

Shapoor is also a great promoter of the sport and sponsors two million races at Mumbai. It is people like Shapoor who make racing an enjoyable sport.
